A National Home for Rhinology
The Libyan Rhinology Society brings together the doctors who treat diseases of the nose, sinuses and skull base across Libya. We were founded on a simple idea: that specialists working in different cities should not be working in isolation.
The society sets shared standards of care, runs the conferences and workshops where those standards are taught, and publishes the research that comes out of Libyan practice. Membership is open to consultants, residents, allied health professionals and medical students with a serious interest in the field.
Our Mission
To raise the standard of rhinology practice in Libya by giving specialists a professional home — one that provides continuous education, a framework for ethical practice, and a route to publish and share clinical experience. Better outcomes for patients follow from better-supported doctors.
Our Vision
To be recognised across the Middle East and North Africa as a serious academic authority in rhinology and skull base surgery — a society whose guidelines are followed, whose journal is cited, and whose congresses attract international faculty to Libya.
Our Aims
- Organise an annual national congress and regular surgical workshops
- Publish the Journal of Libyan Rhinology as a peer-reviewed record of regional research
- Establish and maintain standard-of-care protocols for Libyan ENT practice
- Support residents and young specialists through mentorship and training
- Build working relationships with international rhinology federations
- Encourage and fund research grounded in local clinical need
Our History
From a founding conversation to a national society with its own journal.
Foundation
A group of Libyan ENT specialists founded the society to unify rhinology standards and end the isolation between practitioners in different cities.
First Annual Conference
The society held its First Annual Conference on Nose and Sinus Diseases, bringing specialists together from across Libya for the first time.
Official Registration
The Libyan Rhinology Society was formally registered and announced as a recognised professional association.
Second Annual Conference
The Second Annual Conference expanded the programme with surgical workshops and international faculty participation.
Digital Transformation
Launch of the society website, the online membership portal and the Journal of Libyan Rhinology, opening access nationwide.

Leads the society, representing LRS before official bodies and overseeing all executive operations.

Head of Scientific Affairs
Directs scientific policy, organises conferences, and coordinates with international rhinology bodies.

Treasurer
Oversees financial resources, prepares annual budgets, and ensures full financial transparency.
Alkhder Almbrouk Almontaser
Head of Media Affairs
Manages the LRS visual identity, website, social platforms and press communications.
Mohamed Faraj Sowan
Head of Legal Affairs
Provides legal counsel to the board and reviews all internal regulations and agreements.

Board Secretary
Prepares meeting agendas, records minutes, and maintains all official correspondence.
